IUSD’s 37th annual District Science Fair Open House is Tuesday, Feb. 27 at the Portola High School gymnasium (1001 Cadence, Irvine).  Sixth grade awards and open house 5-6:30 p.m. in the gym. Seventh- twelfth grade awards begin at 7 p.m. in the theater. 
El Vaquero, Irvine High School’s student-run newspaper, placed 1st in newspaper sweepstakes at the Orange County Journalism Education Association (OCJEA) Write-Offs.
University High School’s Science Bowl Team recently took top honors during the 26th Regional Science Bowl competition and will represent California at the national competition in April.
There are a number of reasons to stay connected to IUSD, including receiving important news and information about the District and your school on a regular basis.  It is also important to know how to connect with IUSD during an emergency.
For the second straight year, Woodbridge High School placed first in the Orange County Academic Decathlon, securing a place at the state academic decathlon in March. 
More than 200 IUSD students showcased innovative inventions at the 31st Annual Astounding Inventions™ competition.
Portola High School, which opened in August 2016, has received two prestigious awards representing the "pinnacle of design and construction achievement."
During the January 23 Board Meeting, the Irvine Company presented IUSD with a check for $2 million as part of the Excellence in Education Enrichment Fund grant, which supports art, music and science education for Irvine Unified School District students in grades 4-6.
Innovative student inventions will be showcased at the Annual Astounding Inventions™ competition on Saturday, January 27 at Irvine Valley College.
The IUSD Board of Education unanimously approved the name, Loma Ridge Elementary School for the District’s soon-to-be 24th Elementary school.
