Once again, University High School earned first place at the recent Science Bowl Regional competition.  Hosted by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, this annual competition tests students' knowledge of math, physics, chemistry and biology, among other topics.

March 13 marked one year since IUSD, along with school districts throughout the state and nation, closed schools to in-person instruction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  I would like to take a few moments to say thank you for your partnership and to look back at what we have collectively accomplished in support of our more than 35,000 students.
IUSD students from Creekside, Irvine, Northwood, Portola, University and Woodbridge high schools participated virtually in the annual Student Advocacy program to discuss issues impacting education with state legislators and other influential policy makers in Sacramento.
USD’s Nutrition Services we will be closed Monday, March 29 through Friday, April 2 for Spring Break.  However, families can pick-up six days of free breakfasts and lunches for their student(s) on Friday, March 26 from 7-8:45 a.m. at the Creekside Education Center.
On March 20, the California Department of Public Health amended the state's guidance for classroom spacing to 3 feet from the recommended 6 feet. The updated guidelines will not change existing academic models for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year but  is positive news for IUSD’s 2021-22 planning.
The Irvine Unified School District believes that discrimination, hate, racism, racial injustice and violence have no place in our society.  We are deeply saddened by and condemn the stream of violence, abuse and hate that has been directed toward the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. 
IUSD is happy to announce upcoming dates for summer programs, which include a K-12 Summer Learning Recovery Academy, Acceleration and Enrichment courses for HS students and MS Math Bridge, K-6 English Learner Learning Recovery Academy, and Extended School Year (ESY). 
Northwood High School Principal, Dr. Leslie Roach has received Administrator of the Year honors from the Association of California School Administrators, for her outstanding leadership and significant contributions to education during her 22-year career with IUSD.   
As part of IUSD’s ongoing effort to prevent and limit the spread of COVID-19, the District has extended no cost COVID-19 testing for IUSD students, staff and staff dependents through April.
