IUSD Students’ Innovation on Display at 41st Annual Science Fair

IUSD Science Showcase

IUSD students in grades 6-12 participated in the District’s 41st annual Science Fair, which was held virtually, from January 24-February 4.  During the fair, students presented an impressive array of projects that can still be viewed by clicking here

Congratulations to all of our outstanding participants!  IUSD will advance 143 students to the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair in March and 28 IUSD students will advance to the 2022 Broadcom MASTERS.

Lemelson Early Inventor Prize
Santiago Hills Elementary School student Audrey Kim was selected as the winner of the Lemelson Early Inventor Prize from the Lemelson Foundation for her project “Sparky Soccer: How a renewable energy source can generate immense amounts of electricity through a popular sport, and revolutionize the wider usage and creation of electricity in everyday life.” 

Broadcom Coding with Commitment Prize
Rhea Sreedhar, also from Santiago Hills elementary School was selected as winner of the Broadcom Coding with Commitment Prize for her project “Silent but Deadly.”

Collectively, through this partnership, we share important goals of empowering young people to become STEM-minded critical thinkers who are inspired to become the scientists, engineers, and innovators of the future.
