Last week, Oct. 23-27, IUSD schools celebrated Red Ribbon Week, a week in which awareness is raised around drug prevention and making healthy choices. This year’s theme in Irvine was “Your Future is Key, Who Will You Be?”
IUSD will host a blended learning information night for parents of students in grades K-6 interested in independent study options on Thursday, November 9, from 6-7 p.m. at the Creekside Education Center Multipurpose Room.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory in effect for Orange County for Monday and Tuesday with an extension possible through Wednesday. IUSD outdoor activities and practices will be modified accordingly to ensure student safety.
On Thursday, October 19 at 10:19 a.m., all IUSD schools and facilities participated in the Great California Shakeout. This statewide earthquake drill is the nation’s largest and is designed to help organizations be prepared in the event of a real earthquake or other disaster.
Assistant Superintendent of Education Services Cassie Parham received the Excellence in Leadership Award from the Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF) at the 8th Annual Spirit of Excellence Gala and Auction.
IUSD hosted the official dedication ceremony for its newest K-6 school, Eastwood Elementary. The District’s 23rd elementary school is a state-of-the-art education facility, which opened in August of this year.
For the third consecutive year, the Irvine Unified School District’s state standardized assessment scores have outperformed both state and Orange County score averages.
Update (September 27): Air-quality conditions in Irvine have improved. There are no AQMD advisories, at this time, related to air-quality in Irvine and the Canyon Fire. Superintendent Walker's ongoing role with CENIC in recent years has proved beneficial for IUSD and pivotal in bringing the first-ever 100-Gigabit per second K-12 internet connection to all 27 school districts in Orange County.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the National Merit Award semifinalists on Thursday, with IUSD students taking top honors in Southern California.
