IUSD students had a powerhouse performance at the recent state National History Day competition with seven of the eight Orange County entries going to the National History Day national competition this June. 
Irvine High School’s Archana Jain has been named one of six Orange County Teacher of the Year Finalist by the Orange County Department of Education. 
To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship, students showcased extracurricular activities, awards, and leadership positions; demonstrated outstanding academic performance; and earned high SAT® scores.
For the sixth consecutive year, IUSD has been named one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.
Brywood Elementary, Deerfield Elementary, Plaza Vista School, and Turtle Rock Elementary have been named 2018 California Distinguished Schools.  This designation is the state’s top honor for schools.

El Vaquero, Irvine High School’s student-run newspaper, placed 1st in newspaper sweepstakes at the Orange County Journalism Education Association (OCJEA) Write-Offs.
University High School’s Science Bowl Team recently took top honors during the 26th Regional Science Bowl competition and will represent California at the national competition in April.
For the second straight year, Woodbridge High School placed first in the Orange County Academic Decathlon, securing a place at the state academic decathlon in March. 
IUSD is participating in Computer Science (CS) Week, which is designed to inspire students to learn how to code, develop computer science skills, and to be prepared for the digital economy.
