The Woodbridge Academic Decathlon team recently competed in the 2017 annual California Academic Decathlon competition in Sacramento and finished 9th place overall.
Irvine High School’s Jazz bands attended the 55th annual Reno Jazz Festival at the University of Nevada, Reno, demonstrating why Irvine High’s Jazz bands are some of the best in the west.
Today, IUSD announced its five 2017 Classified Employees of the Year – Eric Lomeli, Silvia Rosa, Ari As, Linda Risberg and Rita Gallegos.
For the fifth consecutive year, IUSD has been named one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.

Irvine High School journalism students took home 1st Place in sweepstakes and 1st Place in the California All-Star mail-in newspaper contest at the Southern California Journalism Education Association (SCJEA) State Write-Offs, recently held at Rancho Dominguez Prep School in Long Beach.

Irvine High School and Sierra Vista Middle School have both been named 2017 California Gold Ribbon Schools.  
IUSD hosted two Portola High School dedication ceremonies to celebrate the District’s fifth comprehensive high school, which opened last August.

Every year, about half a million students in grades four through 12 take part in National History Day events across the U.S.
