IUSD Students Seek to Solve Problems Big and Small at Astounding Inventions Competition

Astounding Inventions Competition at IVC

Recently, more than 200 IUSD students showcased their innovative inventions at the 32nd Annual Astounding Inventions™ competition at Irvine Valley College. As the name implies, Astounding Inventions is an invention fair highlighting handmade inventions by students from the Irvine and Tustin school districts in kindergarten through eighth grade.

The inventions spanned a wide range of categories, such as technology, safety, conservation, household items, personal gadgets and more. This included “Never Heavy Backpacks,” “Magical Hairdo Helmet,” “Jacket Pants,” “Talking Solar System,” “Wildfire Indicator,” and “Rain Water Preserving System.”

While we are intrigued with all of the inventions, many of us at the District are waiting intently for the “Magical Hairdo Helmet,” especially on rainy days.

The competition was established more than three decades ago to promote student interest and learning in math and science. To learn more and to watch a video about this year’s event, visit https://foundation.ivc.edu/ai.
