The Woodbridge High School Warriors are officially CIF Southern Section Football Champions, claiming a close 24-23 victory over Montebello to secure the program’s third CIF title and its first in 27 years.
This win caps one of the most remarkable turnarounds in IUSD sports history. After opening the season 0–7, the Warriors refused to give up. Week after week, they continued to fight, showing steady improvement and unwavering belief in one another. Their resilience paid off as they rallied through the postseason, ultimately earning a championship.
"I never doubted this team. To find our way back from a 0-7 start and finish the season as champions is a testament to their determination and hard work. The entire coaching staff and I are beyond proud of this team," stated head coach Connor McBride.
Friday night’s title game showcased the same determination that defined their season, with players on both sides of the ball delivering key plays to edge out Montebello in a one-point thriller.
Congratulations to the Warriors on an unforgettable season!
