Northwood High School's Girls Softball team made history by capturing their first CIF Southern Section Division 5 Softball Championship with an impressive 11-1 victory over Grace Brethren High School.
After a close start to the game, Northwood took control by consistently getting runners on base and scoring runs while preventing Grace from mounting a comeback. The Timberwolves' strong hitting, solid defense, and teamwork helped them pull away for an 11-1 victory. The Timberwolves played error-free defense throughout the contest, supporting a dominant pitching performance and preventing Grace from generating sustained offensive momentum.
At the plate, Northwood showed patience and consistency, gradually building its lead before breaking the game open with an explosive eight-run fifth inning. The team produced 11 hits overall, with contributions coming from throughout the lineup. All players on the team helped drive in runs, advance runners and keep the pressure on Grace.
The victory was a milestone achievement for the program and capped a remarkable season under first-year Head Coach Maddy Grimm. In her first season as coach, Grimm guided the Timberwolves to unparalleled success, leading to the school’s first CIF softball title.
Players, coaches, families and supporters celebrated the historic accomplishment that will be remembered as one of the most successful in school history.
