For the seventh time in nine years, University High School’s Science Bowl team won the regional competition held at Univeristy of California, Los Angeles! The team went undefeated throughout the day, demonstrating their incredible knowledge, teamwork and dedication.

With this victory, the Uni team earned a spot in the national competition, which will take place in Washington, D.C. at the end of April. This is the team's fourth consecutive trip to the finals—an impressive record given the high level of competition among not only public schools but also private schools in the region.

An Exciting Competition Match

Teams from Orange County competed in the fast-paced, buzzer-style event, which covered topics like biology, chemistry, physics, earth and space sciences, energy, and mathematics.

UHS started the day going undefeated in the round robin portion of the competition. They moved on to the double elimination portion as a high seed, beating teams from Portola High School and San Marino High School. They faced a challenge against Whitney High School in the semifinals, as the match came down to the last question. Team Captain, Feodor Yevtushenko, amazed the crowd by answering a tough physics question.

They faced Troy High School in the final round and secured the win with an impressive score of 150 to 114.
