Message from the Superintendent: Working Together to Support Students and Schools

Terry Walker Message IUSD Insights January 2024

Dear IUSD Community,

Happy New Year!  On behalf of the IUSD Board of Education and District leadership, we hope you had a wonderful winter break and that this message finds you well.

In this January edition of IUSD Insights, we have included information about the IUSD Annual Survey, traffic safety reminders, flexible and individualized learning opportunities offered by IVA, parent and family engagement workshops, Montessori information night, IUSD’s Science Fair and more.  We hope you will take a moment to review this content, designed to keep our community informed and connected with our District.

Student, Family and Staff Partners – Your Voice Matters

I would especially like to encourage our IUSD community to participate in the IUSD Annual Survey.  Our collective partnership with students, families and staff forms the “US” at the center of IUSD.  Together, we continue to work to support our students and to create one of the highest-performing school districts in the nation.  For more than 50 years, our core focus has been to provide the highest quality educational experience we can envision.  This requires feedback from our community so that we can identify areas where we are excelling and areas we can improve how we serve students and families.

Your perspectives, whether you are a student, a parent/guardian or a member of our dedicated staff, help IUSD identify annual goals, take action on those goals, and measure progress on academic achievement, school climate and parent engagement as part of the 10-month LCAP process. Your input allows us to align our budget and educational goals while being accountable to our community.

Traffic Safety – We’re in this Together

Additionally, please take a moment to read the traffic safety tips for drivers, pedestrians, and bike/e-vehicle riders from the Irvine Police Department.  As we settle back into the routine of getting students to and from school on time and safely, please remember that we are in this together, and each of us has an important role to play when it comes to traffic safety.

Thank you for your participation in the Annual Survey and for your continued support.

Sincerely,
