Nine Irvine Unified School District educators were honored for making a difference in students’ lives through arts education at the 2018 Orange County Music and Arts Educators Awards this month.

Today, IUSD announced its five 2018 Classified Employees of the Year – Dawn Jan, Leanne Lauritzen, Jason Nakatani, Kimberly Quon, and Zeb Samson. 

Fourteen IUSD student projects placed and Northwood High Senior Nitya Parthasarathy was named the “California Science & Engineering Fair Student of the Year.”

IUSD students had a powerhouse performance at the recent state National History Day competition with seven of the eight Orange County entries going to the National History Day national competition this June. 

Mental Health Awareness Month is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and the multi-tiered supports available for IUSD students.

With the passage of the California Voting Rights Act, many school districts and other municipalities throughout the state have gone through a process to consider their election method systems. As the next step in this process, the District has published three draft trustee area maps.

Hundreds of IUSD’s outstanding musicians took center stage during the 36th annual Donald Bren Honors Concert at the Renee & Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, located at the Orange County Performing Arts Center.

For the sixth consecutive year, IUSD has been named one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.
