The Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) would like to encourage parent and student participation in the 2018-19 school funding survey, which is part of the 10-month LCAP process. 
Brywood Elementary, Deerfield Elementary, Plaza Vista School, and Turtle Rock Elementary have been named 2018 California Distinguished Schools.  This designation is the state’s top honor for schools.  

The Woodbridge Academic Decathlon team competed in the 39th Annual California Academic Decathlon competition in Sacramento from March 22 through March 25 and finished 13th place in the Division 1, the most competitive division in the most competitive state in the nation.

IUSD is pleased to announce that Dr. Mandy Ferrell has been named as the new Principal of Oak Creek Elementary School. Dr. Ferrell is well known to the staff, students, and community as she currently serves as assistant principal.

On March 13, 2018, the IUSD Board of Education adopted Resolution No. 17-18-28: Intent to Initiate the Process of Establishing Trustee Areas and Elections By-Trustee Areas. The purpose of this resolution is to commence the process to consider establishing trustee areas for the method of electing members of the IUSD Board of Education.

The Irvine Unified School District is pleased to announce that Scott Sodorff has been named Principal of Lakeside Middle School. Mr. Sodorff was selected from a talented candidate pool with input and participation from the Lakeside staff and parent community.

IUSD’s 37th annual District Science Fair Open House is Tuesday, Feb. 27 at the Portola High School gymnasium (1001 Cadence, Irvine).  Sixth grade awards and open house 5-6:30 p.m. in the gym. Seventh- twelfth grade awards begin at 7 p.m. in the theater. 
El Vaquero, Irvine High School’s student-run newspaper, placed 1st in newspaper sweepstakes at the Orange County Journalism Education Association (OCJEA) Write-Offs.
