Irvine High School runner Summer Wilson is now the CIF State Cross Country Champion, taking first in her division and at the competition overall. Wilson not only won the race, she also broke the all-time state course record, finishing the 5K in 16:20, the fastest time ever recorded on the Woodward Park state course in Fresno and outpacing over one thousand runners.

This victory wraps up an already standout season for Wilson. Earlier this month, she won the Southern Section CIF Championship, where she set new school, course and state records.

The success continued across the district, as the Woodbridge High School Boys Cross Country team finished second overall in Division 2. Leading the Warriors was Aidan Antonio, who placed 5th in the state. His strong finish qualified him to compete at the Nike Cross Country Nationals in Portland, where he will race against the top high school runners in the country.

"We are incredibly proud of these CIF champions and all our student-athletes who represent IUSD with integrity and excellence," shared Superintendent Cassie Parham. "Their hard work on and off the course inspires us all."
