As of this afternoon (10/28), the Silverado Fire evacuation orders have been lifted for the city of Irvine and instruction will resume tomorrow (10/29) across all academic models.
IUSD is committed to providing accurate and transparent information regarding COVID-19 cases on our campuses, while also maintaining privacy and confidentiality for our students and staff.  To this end, the District has launched a new COVID-19 dashboard.
Vista Verde K-8 School has been named a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, making it one of 367 schools from across the nation to have earned what is widely considered the nation’s highest level of recognition for public and private schools.

As part of IUSD's inclusive and proactive planning for the 2020-21 school year, the District has identified and allocated more than $21 million for health and safety measures.  As we prepare to welcome back more than 22,000 students to our campuses and classrooms this article details IUSD process and investments.
Assuming the county’s data continues trending in a positive direction for 14 consecutive days, IUSD schools will reopen for in-person instruction, for those who selected an in-person academic model, September 24-25.  September 21 and 22 will be staff development/non-student days.  
September is Emergency Preparedness Month and IUSD would like to remind our community about the importance of being prepared for emergencies.  Included is information about IUSD's planning and tips from the Irvine Police Department and the Orange County Fire Authority.  
The Orange County Health Care Agency announced that although county coronavirus rates continue to drop, the California Department of Public Health has moved the September 8 start date so that OC schools could be in a position to reopen for in-person instruction starting September 22, as long as the downward trend in coronavirus rates continues.
