Dear IUSD Community,
As communicated in our Feb. 10 face covering update, IUSD has been closely monitoring and sharing information from state and local health care agencies regarding potential changes to California's guidelines for TK-12 schools, including indoor mask mandates. Late this afternoon, Orange County Health Officer Dr. Clayton Chau sent a letter to the California Department of Public Health to propose using hospitalization rates and ICU capacities as the basis for making mask mandate decisions impacting schools. Also, Governor Newsom's office has confirmed that he plans to make an important announcement related to schools on Monday. IUSD will provide our community with an update shortly after the Governor's announcement.
