IUSD Named a Top School District in State and County

Niche Ranks IUSD TOP CA and OC School District

The Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) has been named a top school district in California by Niche, a website that ranks schools and neighborhoods based on data and reviews.

IUSD, located in Orange County, serves more than 36,000 students across 45 schools. The District was recognized for its diverse student body and offers a wide range of academic, visual and performing arts, and athletic programs.

According to Niche's 2023 rankings, IUSD is the 15th best school district in California out of the ranked 440 districts and No. 2 in Orange County. The ranking is based on factors such as academics, teachers, clubs and activities, diversity, college prep, athletics, and administration.  

IUSD's was also named one of the top 100 school districts in the United States with the District’s high schools receiving high marks both nationally and in California.  Niche has also highly ranked IUSD as a District with the best teachers and named it one of the best places to teach

In addition to its academic excellence, the District has also been recognized for its commitment to student wellness and safety. The IUSD Board of Education has prioritized student mental health and social-emotional well-being, and the District has implemented programs such as the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports program to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.

The IUSD also boasts a wide range of extracurricular and co-curricular activities and learning opportunities such as Career Technical Education, providing students with opportunities to explore their interests and develop their talents in and outside of the classroom.
