More than 30 IUSD students from Irvine, IVA Secondary, Northwood, Portola, University and Woodbridge high schools traveled to Sacramento to discuss issues impacting education with state legislators and other influential policymakers. 

Lakeside, Rancho San Joaquin, Sierra Vista, South Lake and Venado middle schools, along with Irvine and Woodbridge high schools, have been named 2026 California Distinguished Schools. This designation is the state’s top honor for schools.

Dr. Jeff Kim was selected to serve as President of the Board, while Lauren Brooks was selected to serve as Board Clerk. The Board thanked outgoing President Katie McEwen.
