Vaping Prevention Parent Workshops

IUSD Vaping Prevention Flier

IUSD has partnered with the Orange County Department of Education to host two vaping prevention workshops for parents.  Given the growing concern about youth vaping across the nation, it is important for parents to be informed.

Wednesday, November 13 from 6-8 p.m.
Jeffery Trail Middle School – MPR
155 Visions, Irvine 92606

-Or-

Tuesday, December 3 from 6-8 p.m.
The Learning Center – Room 1
3387 Barranca Parkway, Irvine 92606

During the free workshops, parents will learn:

  • What the new types of e-cigarettes look like
  • What research says about the risks of youth vaping
  • How vaping devices are used with marijuana
  • How to talk to your child about vaping
  • What prevention resources are available for parents

In addition to parent education workshops, IUSD provides tobacco-use prevention education to students in grades 4-12 that focuses on information about tobacco products, including the harms they cause, as well as the deceptive marketing strategies used by tobacco companies to increase use among teens. Students are educated on refusal skills and given opportunities to practice those skills.  The best way to prevent youth vaping is to never start.  Together we can help inform and support students.
