Stay Safe with the Irvine Police Department’s Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween Safety Tips text and pumpkins with flashlight shining on them.

With Halloween right around the corner, we would like to remind our students and families of valuable Halloween safety recommendations provided by the Irvine Police Department (IPD).

Please keep these guidelines in mind as you and your children venture out for an enjoyable night of trick-or-treating and a happy Halloween.

  • An adult should accompany children at all times
  • Choose bright, reflective costumes or clothing that is more visible in the dark
  • Bring a flashlight or glow sticks
  • Avoid costumes with masks that may obstruct vision
  • Drivers should be extra careful to look for children in dark costumes and keep speeds low
  • Inspect your candy; do not accept or eat any food item that is not commercially wrapped, open or has signs of tampering
  • SEE something, SAY something; call 9-1-1 to report suspicious behavior or criminal activity
