Outstanding IUSD Arts Educators Honored at Annual OCMAA Awards Ceremony

2021 OCMAA IUSD Recipients

Three outstanding IUSD educators joined more than two dozen Orange County teachers and administrators as 2021 Orange County Music and Arts Administrators — or OCMAA – honorees.  Elementary Teachers Greg Bergevin and Stephanie Smith, along with Irvine High School Principal Monica Colunga were honored for making a difference in the lives of IUSD students through arts education.

The virtual OCMAA awards ceremony took place on May 12 and included displays of student visual art from the countywide OCArts4All Virtual Art Showcase, award presentations by school district and arts organization leaders, and student performances. Additional 2021 OCMAA nominees from IUSD included Trish Gilpin, Holly Held, Adrian Rangel-Sanchez and Rebecca Venlet.

Founded by the Orange County Department of Education, OCMAA is an active coalition of school districts, community arts organizations, parents and business leaders who work collaboratively to ensure a high quality inclusive, accessible, and equitable arts education for every child.

Congratulations to all IUSD nominees and award recipients!  For more information about Arts IUSD, including visual arts, music, theater, dance, digital media and more, visit iusd.org/arts.
