IUSD is proud to announce that we are the only large school district in California with 100 percent Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) implementation at all IUSD schools with a 100 percent success rate. IUSD’s elementary, middle and high schools have been recognized by the State at the Platinum, Silver, Gold, and/or Bronze levels for their successful implementation of PBIS.
PBIS is an approach that includes intervention practices to help students access the right supports, so they can achieve at their highest levels. At each IUSD school, PBIS is comprised of organizational systems for establishing the social culture, teaching and learning environment, and individual behavioral expectations and supports needed to achieve academic and social success for all students.
“This tremendous recognition is indicative of IUSD’s proactive strategies to support teaching and learning, and recognizing and reinforcing appropriate student behaviors to create positive school cultures and climates,” said Superintendent Terry Walker. “I am so proud of our dedicated and talented teachers, administrators and staff, who work to support our students and positive outcomes.”
Each year, California recognizes schools throughout the state that implement PBIS. For more information about PBIS in IUSD, visit iusd.org/pbis.
