IUSD Leads Southern California with Highest Number of Students Selected for SCVA Honor Choirs

SCVA Honor Choirs over music notes

Forty-four students from Irvine, Portola and Woodbridge High Schools have been selected to join the Southern California Vocal Association (SCVA) High School Honor Choirs. Once again, IUSD has the highest number of students selected in Southern California for these prestigious honor choirs.

Students had to audition alongside over 500 high school singers from across Southern California to earn a spot. In total, 266 students were chosen for these choirs, which will perform in a special concert in November.

“We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work, dedication and passion for vocal music, which has earned them a place in these highly competitive honor choirs,” said Director of Arts IUSD Erin Zoumaras. “This achievement is a testament not only to their individual talent but also to the guidance and support provided by our outstanding choir directors and teachers.

The selected students will perform in one of three choirs, each distinguished by specific vocal arrangements. These choirs are composed of singers of equal level and are directed by esteemed guest conductors from top Collegiate Choral Programs or professional choral organizations.

Congratulations to these students and best of luck at the concert in November!
