On Tuesday, December 14, after a hiatus last year, IUSD hosted its annual 21st Century Career Conference at UCI’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts. More than 350 seventh-grade students from the District’s 10 middle schools, including IVA, had the opportunity to learn from Orange County science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) professionals and explore various career options and educational pathways.
During the conference, students participated in four, 30-minute breakout sessions. Within each breakout session, students learned from the STEAM presenters about the nature of their professions, the day-to-day-aspects of their jobs, and how to best prepare for related fields of interest, within middle school, high school and post-secondary experiences.
The District would like to especially thank our UCI hosts, the presenters, District STEM and Arts IUSD teams, our students, and our teacher and parent chaperones from each school, who all helped to make this student-centered event a success.
