IUSD broke ground on Solis Park, the District’s soon-to-be fifth K-8 school on September 1, 2021. This state-of-the-art education facility is expected to open August 2022 and will serve the Great Park Neighborhoods, continuing IUSD’s tradition of excellence. The campus is 108,000 square feet and will include the following features designed to foster discovery, curiosity, collaboration and innovation.
- An innovation lab
- A design lab
- Dedicated Special Education hub and classrooms
- Dedicated state of the art music and science classrooms
- Outdoor learning spaces, including a science and art courtyard
- A Fitness lab and indoor gymnasium
During the groundbreaking ceremony, IUSD Board of Education Members Paul Bokota, Ira Glasky, Sharon Wallin and Cyril Yu, along with Superintendent Terry L. Walker and Solis Park Principal Heather Phillips were joined by IUSD staff, Mayor Farrah Khan, other City of Irvine and County officials, FivePoint Chairman and CEO Emile Haddad, FivePoint President and Chief Operating Officer Lynn Jochim, IUCPTA President Connie Stone, IPSF President and CEO Neda Eaton, and other community representatives.
