8th-Grade Families: Learn About the Early College Program!

Irvine Unified School District Early College Program Parent and Student Information Meeting flyer.

The Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) Early College Program (ECP), developed in partnership with Irvine Valley College (IVC), offers a unique opportunity for academically qualified IUSD students to earn nearly two years of transferable college credits while completing their high school education. Now in its second year, the ECP can save students both time and money, which can be directed toward a career, graduate work, or other academic goals.

Program Highlights:

  • Open to current 8th-grade students starting their freshman year at any IUSD high school.
  • Requires a 4-year commitment.
  • Most IVC classes are virtual or asynchronous Monday-Friday, 8-9:30 a.m., with occasional in-person assessments or labs
  • Courses are UC/CSU transferable and can lead to IGETC Certification or even an associate’s degree with additional units.
  • Eight spaces are available per high school, with more spots if available.
  • Students from underrepresented groups or first-generation college families are encouraged to apply.
