Presented by Greenberg Traurig and the Irvine Valley College Foundation, the Astounding Inventions fair annually showcases hundreds of clever innovations, all handmade by Irvine and Tustin students in kindergarten through the eighth grade. This year, more than 400 kids participated with entries that included “The Massaging Alarm,” “U-Turn Signal” and "Rattlesnake Boot Detector 2000.” (We had planned on personally attending, but we overslept, got stuck behind a minivan doing a one-eighty and then briefly lost consciousness when we discovered a snake in our high-tops.)
