IUSD and our partners, PJHM Architects Inc., recently received the Leroy F. Greene Design & Planning Award of Honor for New Builds at the Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) Annual Conference. The award recognized Solis Park K-8 School for its innovative design elements, and flexible and collaborative learning environments such as the Innovation Labs, education hubs and the music and science spaces.
The CASH Annual Conference on School Facilities, held in Sacramento, serves as the premier gathering for school facility professionals statewide. Drawing over 2,000 attendees, the event provides a platform for sharing best practices and innovative ideas, as well as celebrating exemplary achievements in educational infrastructure.
“This award reaffirms our district's dedication to excellence in educational infrastructure,” stated Kelvin Okino, Executive Director of Facilities and Construction. “It showcases the hard work and commitment that IUSD consistently invests in both new and existing facilities, further solidifying our mission to provide the best possible learning environments for our students."
This recognition not only underscores IUSD's ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence but also serves as a testament to the collective efforts of educators, administrators and the community in advancing the quality of education in Irvine.
In addition to this honor, IUSD's commitment to enhancing its facilities is exemplified through Measure E initiatives. With Measure E, IUSD has undertaken significant efforts to modernize and revitalize facilities across 28 of the district's aging schools, helping to ensure that students have access to safe, state-of-the-art learning environments.
