Topics addressed by Superintendent Walker included student centered learning, funding, staff, teaching and learning, facilities, and technology.  
On Thursday, October 19 at 10:19 a.m., all IUSD schools and facilities participated in the Great California Shakeout. This statewide earthquake drill is the nation’s largest and is designed to help organizations be prepared in the event of a real earthquake or other disaster.  
IUSD hosted the official dedication ceremony for its newest K-6 school, Eastwood Elementary.  The District’s 23rd elementary school is a state-of-the-art education facility, which opened in August of this year.
Update - Wednesday, Oct. 11, 11:15 a.m. - IUSD schools remain open today. AQMD reported that air-quality in Irvine has improved.  Outdoor activities and sports will resume.   
Update (September 27): Air-quality conditions in Irvine have improved. There are no AQMD advisories, at this time, related to air-quality in Irvine and the Canyon Fire. All IUSD activities and sports will resume as normal. Please check your email today, should your school and/or coach provide updates.

IUSD broke ground on Cadence Park School, on September 7, 2017. Once built, this state-of-the-art education facility will be the District's fourth K-8 and its 40th school.
IUSD's 2017-18 Annual Update includes information about the first Series I Measure E projects, which are being implemented at six schools this summer, information about the Citizens Oversight Committee, schools that are receiving Measure E funds by series, and other general Measure E information.
Check out the progress of six Measure E projects, set to be completed in August, prior to the start of the 2017-18 school year.  
Starting this month, six Measure E projects will begin at Bonita Canyon, College Park, Culverdale, Greentree, Santiago Hills and Stone Creek elementary schools.
