Due to effective mitigation strategies to combat COVID-19, schools are not affected by the state's new regional stay at home order.  Read Superintendent Walker's update for important information.  
IUSD is aware of Governor Newsom's most recent regional stay at home order announced today and we are working with state and local officials to understand what this means for our school district. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information.
Although the Bond Fire does not pose a threat to the City of Irvine or IUSD schools, according to IPD and OCFA, the entire city continues to experience unhealthy air quality. As a result, IUSD is unable to operate HVAC systems, a critical component to COVID-19 safety protocols and therefore IUSD schools will continue in distance learning Friday.

Message from Superintendent Walker: On behalf of the IUSD Board of Education and District leadership we wish our IUSD community a happy Thanksgiving!  We are truly grateful for our students, staff and families, who have been our steadfast partners as we continue to navigate these unchartered waters together.
Today, Governor Newsom announced that 41 counties in California, including Orange County, have moved to the state’s most restrictive Purple Tier. Per state guidelines, IUSD and OC schools that have opened for in-person instruction after September 8, when the county was in the Red Tier, may remain open for instruction.
As of this afternoon (10/28), the Silverado Fire evacuation orders have been lifted for the city of Irvine and instruction will resume tomorrow (10/29) across all academic models.
IUSD is committed to providing accurate and transparent information regarding COVID-19 cases on our campuses, while also maintaining privacy and confidentiality for our students and staff.  To this end, the District has launched a new COVID-19 dashboard.
Vista Verde K-8 School has been named a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, making it one of 367 schools from across the nation to have earned what is widely considered the nation’s highest level of recognition for public and private schools.
