Woodbridge High School's mock trial team takes third at state finals in Sacramento

They came. They saw. They expertly demonstrated their lawyering skills.

Woodbridge High School’s mock trial team added to its run of courtroom victories over the weekend, placing third in the Constitutional Rights Foundation’s 31st Annual California Mock Trial Finals. As we reported earlier, the squad of legal eagles had traveled up to Sacramento for the March 23-25 competition after winning the county championship for the second consecutive year -- and the eighth time in the last 15 years. Mock trial contests, which are held at the county, state and national levels, challenge teams from participating schools to argue hypothetical criminal cases, either as members of the prosecution or the defense. Students diligently prepare for their roles as attorneys, witnesses, bailiffs, clerks, journalists and even courtroom artists. La Reina High School in Ventura County was ultimately crowned as this year’s state champions, while Dos Pueblos High School in Santa Barbara County took second place.
