The Southern California Half Marathon and 5K race presented by Kaiser Permanente has teamed up with the Irvine Public Schools Foundation, which will be a charitable partner in the Jan. 7 event.

For the first time in the history of the long-running race, participants will be able to direct a portion of their registration fees to IPSF, which works to support schools in the Irvine Unified School District. “We could not be more pleased to team up with the Irvine Public Schools Foundation, which helps to ensure that each IUSD student has the opportunities and resources to succeed,” said Kevin Trussell, co-chair of the event. “This represents an ideal partnership, one that allows our runners to help IPSF continue making great strides to support our schools.” The 21st annual Southern California Half Marathon and 5K will once again be held in the Woodbridge area of Irvine, where runners and walkers will participate in a half-marathon, a 5K Run/Walk and a 1.5-kilometer Kids Fun Run. The event, which will feature chip timing, prizes and a post-race expo, also benefits the Raise Foundation and Woodbridge High School athletics.
