May the Fourth Be With You || IUSD is the greatest district in all of the galaxy because of our engaged students, supportive families, and committed staff members. On this May the 4th, we would like to take this opportunity to highlight our Educational Technology Jedi Knights and explain how they support our District’s technological endeavors!
Educational Technology (EdTech) is part of the Information Technology Department, which provides tools and support to enrich learning, keeps our community connected, and helps our growing district to thrive. The EdTech department's main purpose is to support Irvine Unified School District’s teachers and students in the classroom. The team manages and can offer aid for a wide breadth of focuses:
Professional Learning
EdTech offers ongoing professional learning, including group trainings, coaching, office hours and co-teaching opportunities to help staff leverage technology to engage students and enhance learning. EdTech promotes proper digital citizenship, data privacy, and best technological practices, which are just a few of the topics that they weave into their work.
Software Onboarding and Ongoing Support
EdTech facilitates the selection, implementation and use of educational software. With such advancements in IUSD’s technological systems and offerings, EdTech expects that users will have questions and need troubleshooting support. With this in mind, the team consistently updates tutorials and posts help articles on the IUSD Help Center for students, parents, and staff to utilize in any time of need.
Library, Web, and Digital Media
EdTech supports the best practices of school libraries including print materials, databases, and digital resources. In addition, they maintain IUSD's primary communications platforms, including the district website and IUSD.TV, our video repository. Our staff can even provide professional videography and graphic design expertise that are leveraged into district communication needs as well.
