Recently, several IUSD middle school students participated in the MathCounts Regional Competition at the University Of California, Irvine.
The MathCounts Competition was created by The MathCounts Foundation which is a non-profit that tries to encourage students from across the nation and in grades 6-8 to engage in extracurricular math programs.
A total of 9 IUSD schools participated in this year’s competition against 22 other schools in the Southern California Regional Competition. In all, 248 students were in attendance.
IUSD schools that competed include Rancho San Joaquin, Sierra Vista, Vista Verde, Venado, South Lake, Beacon Park, Lakeside, Turtle Rock (6th graders) and Jeffrey Trail.
Congrats to Rancho San Joaquin who won first place. The winning team members from Rancho San Joaquin include Sophia Chen, Yufei Chen, Eric Li and Kristine Liu.
