A University High School sophomore will participate in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles in May after wowing a panel of judges during this month's county competition. Sanjna Ghanshani was among more than 400 students to take part in the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair, which was sponsored by the Broadcom Foundation. Yet she was one of only two selected to compete at the Intel event. The announcement came during the county awards ceremony on April 10. Ghanshani’s project, titled “The Effect of Single Amino Acid Mutations, Identified By the PoPMuSiC Algorithm, on Engineering Thermally Stable Enzymes For Bioethanol Production,” explored methods for producing biofuels. Scores of other IUSD students also earned honors at this year's Orange County Science and Engineering Fair.
