With the end of the school year in sight, the Irvine Unified School District is preparing to say goodbye to a number of veteran educators who have opted to retire, capping distinguished careers that, in many instances, have spanned decades.

At Bonita Canyon Elementary School alone, four beloved staff members with more than 125 years of collective IUSD experience are a few weeks away from ditching their alarm clocks, including Principal Robin Beacham. As such, the community is invited to attend a special “Retirement Open House” from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 10. The event will honor first-grade teacher Gen James, instructional assistant Rebecca Jefferson, fifth-grade teacher Micky Hoegh and, of course, Dr. Beacham, who has been B.C.'s principal since 1998. We’re told the event will take place in the multipurpose room, and refreshments will be provided.
