Last week, the Board of Education recognized more than 100 certificated, classified and administrative employees who are set to retire on or before June 30. Terry Walker, assistant superintendent of Human Resources, introduced those who were able to personally attend Tuesday night’s school board meeting and praised them for their service. Each was presented with a small gift as a token of the district’s gratitude. The retirees in attendance were: Anita Austin, Harvey Baker, Robin Beacham, Judy Dickey, Barbara Drayer, Joann Freeman, Steve Garretson, Vicki Good, Dawn Hawley, Maureen Hinshaw, Ken Horner, David Kingsbury, Kaye Kingsbury, Dee Knapper, Sue MacDonell, Deborah Meany, Barb Petro, Laura Robinson, Ronald Smart, Ronald Soderwall, Carol Steele, Elizabeth Stevens, Diane Tapangco, Patricia Terry, Sally Valentine, Suzanne West, Norma Yockel and Katie Zemke. Later in the meeting, Board members approved the annual review of IUSD’s Continuous Improvement Efforts and discussed the latest developments in the district’s solar power initiative.
