ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION - 6010
Each school shall work with parents, staff, and student representatives to develop school rules regarding honesty which are consistent with the law, and with the Irvine Unified School District policy. In conjunction with the rules of student conduct, the principal of each school shall annually notify all students, parents, or guardians of the rules pertaining to honesty.
In general, consequences for dishonest behavior shall be based on an evaluation of the specific situation, shall be logical to the offense, and shall be commensurate with the seriousness of the act and the previous record of the student. Where appropriate, both at the school and the classroom level, specific consequences for specific dishonest acts shall be determined.
In an effort to protect the rights of honest students, teachers and school administrators shall take reasonable precautions, and implement preventative measures in situations where opportunities for dishonesty can be anticipated
All dishonest acts, whether handled by a teacher or other school official, shall be recorded in the student’s discipline file for future reference. Parents shall be made aware of each dishonest act and consequence.
