U.S. News & World Report recently released its latest ranking of the country's "Best High Schools" and all five of IUSD’s comprehensive schools made the list. IUSD is the sole Orange County school district with all high schools securing places within the top 130 schools in the State rankings.
- University High School: No. 48 in California, No. 356 in national rankings
- Northwood High School: No. 51 in California, No. 372 in national rankings
- Portola High School: No. 55 in California, No. 402 in national rankings
- Irvine High School: No. 114 in California, No. 822 in national rankings
- Woodbridge High School: No. 123 in California, No. 916 in national rankings
The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings comprehensively evaluate nearly 25,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. For 2024, the U.S. News & World Report ranked nearly 18,000 public schools nationwide based on college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates.
