There are exciting changes coming to Springbrook. Our School is scheduled to have significant and much needed work completed using Measure E Funds. Rather than having the work spread out over multiple years, our students and families will experience the benefits of Measure E upgrades in the 2020-2021 school year.
Due to the large volume of work on the Springbrook campus, our school will be relocated to El Camino Elementary School (4782 Karen Ann Ln., Irvine) for the 2019-2020 school year. El Camino is located near Yale Avenue near Walnut. Below is some information that we have to date. Please check back throughout the year for updates about the temporary relocation.
reason for temporary relocation:
- Student and staff safety – Springbrook will be an active construction site with several work crews, construction equipment and vehicles. In addition, there will also be debris, dust and noise that generally accompanies such projects.
- Minimal disruption to the learning environment for our students. Our students will be in a learning space that is comparable to Springbrook, without the disruption and safety concerns of heavy construction on campus.
- Rather than spreading the work out over multiple years, which would make our school an ongoing and active construction site, the work will be done within a one-year timeframe. This means, our students and families will experience the benefits of Measure E upgrades in the 2020-2021 school year.
timeframe for the relocation:
- Summer 2019 – Teachers and school will relocate to El Camino
- August 2019 – Springbrook students will attend school for the 2019-20 school year
- Summer 2020 – Teachers and school will move back into Springbrook
- August 2020 – Students will return to the upgraded Springbrook campus
Information about El Camino Elementary:
- El Camino has been in use as a functioning site for an adult education program, a Japanese school and IUSD professional development programs. In recent years, it was also used to temporarily house students from Deerfield Elementary School and Meadow Park Elementary.
- During the 2019-20 school year, Springbrook students will be the only students attending El Camino. All other programs will be relocated to other facilities.
- Although the site is in good condition, IUSD has made some improvements to the campus to ready it for our arrival. Springbrook staff, along with the Facilities team will work to ensure El Camino feels like a special home for our students and families.
Transportation:
- IUSD will make bussing available, at no cost, to all Springbrook families.
- IUSD is working with our team to determine the safest drop off/pick up zones.
- More details will follow on bussing in the months ahead.
Child Development Center (CDC):
- CDC will be available on the El Camino school campus.
Next Steps:
