EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS, MEETINGS, AND CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE

BOARD POLICY - 4131.3

Employees of the Irvine Unified School District are encouraged to attend educational events that have the potential value of improving the educational programs of the District.

Payment to employees of incurred expenses are authorized in accordance with Education Code Section 44032.

The Superintendent or designee is authorized to designate and approve necessary expenses for employees attendance at events, including but not limited to, meetings, conferences, workshops, and in-service sessions.  Funds expended for such events shall not exceed the amount budgeted for such purposes and approved by the Board of Education.

The Governing Board shall authorize payment for actual and necessary expenses, including travel, incurred by an employee performing authorized services for the District.  Expenses shall be reimbursed within limits approved by the Board.  The Superintendent or designee shall establish procedures for the submission and verification of expenses claims.  He/she may authorize an advance of funds to cover necessary expenses.  All purchases shall be made by formal contract or purchase order or shall be accompanied by a receipt.

The Superintendent shall establish administrative regulations to implement this policy.
