Woodbridge High’s Athletic Boosters have once again given their school’s athletic department quite a boost, handing over a check for $152,500 to start the year.
This was the largest check ever submitted by the boosters, and we’re not talking about the size of the cardboard display version. The group says its record-breaking donation came from booster membership fees, which increased significantly over the previous year, and proceeds from the most recent Southern California Half Marathon & 5K race. Kevin Trussell, who chairs the annual race, said Woodbridge’s booster program is unique in that it consolidates resources to support all sports. "By working together, we are able to benefit every student-athlete at WHS," he said. Principal Krebs praised the generosity of his school’s boosters. "It's clear that the quality of our students is based on our parent's dedication to their children, their education and athletics,” he said. “We appreciate their involvement and generosity." Added Gibson, the athletic director: "The big check is proudly hung in my office to remind me every day how fortunate our athletic department is to be associated with such great parents."
