Turtle Rock students help set a record at Angel Stadium for the world's largest history lesson

On Nov. 8, third-graders from Turtle Rock Elementary School helped make history -- by studying history.

In fact, they were among the nearly 20,000 students who descended upon Angel Stadium in Anaheim to set the record for the world’s largest history lesson. As The Orange County Register reports, the mark was officially confirmed by a representative from Guinness World Records, and it smashed the previous high of 1,198. Sponsored by the Disneyland Resort, Angels Baseball and others, the Gift of History event was organized to stoke student interest in Orange County’s past while showing kids that they, too, have the power to make history. The roughly 130 third-graders from Turtle Rock were treated to a roster of special guests that included county Superintendent Bill Habermehl, Angels announcer Jose Mota, Disney Channel star Caroline Sunshine and Mickey Mouse, according to the Register. Less than two weeks earlier, Turtle Rock kids also helped craft the lesson. We're told they worked with a video crew to film some questions that were later shown on the Big A’s jumbo scoreboard.
