For today's historic photo, we take you back to the construction of Woodbridge High School, which became IUSD's third high school, joining Uni and Irvine.

This image was kindly shared with us by the Irvine Historical Society, and it was likely snapped by an Irvine World News photographer in the spring of 1980. Woodbridge opened the following fall and was earning California Distinguished School honors and national Blue Ribbon status about six years later.

Meanwhile, it would be nearly 20 years before Irvine's next award-winning high school campus would open in Northwood. Do you have an old photo of the Irvine Unified School District you’d like to share? Send it to ianhanigan@iusd.org, along with some basic caption information, including names, dates and locations. We may publish it on the NewsFlash as part of our IUSD at 40 project. Images from IUSD’s first four decades will be posted on Thursdays.
