The National Merit Scholarship Program is a nationwide academic competition for college scholarships. This year, more than 6,870 students won National Merit Scholarships worth approximately $26 million. Competition finalists were able to win a scholarship in three different categories: College-Sponsored Merit Scholarships, National Merit $2500 Scholarships and Corporate-Sponsored Merit Scholarships.

High school juniors entered the 2024 National Merit Scholar Program by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. Semifinalists were chosen in the fall of 2023 and 15,000 finalists were chosen in the spring of 2024.

The National Merit Scholarship winners were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors. The committee reviewed the student's academic records, PSAT/NMSQT scores, leadership in school and community activities, an essay written by the Finalist and a recommendation from a high school official.

Congratulations to these students on their outstanding achievements!
