Middle School Art

Each IUSD middle school provides classes in two and three dimensional art. Classes are offered in both 7th and 8th grade. A variety of media and techniques are explored, including watercolor, tempera, pen and ink, oil pastels, and others. Selected schools provide classes in ceramics in which students create projects using hand-building and the potters wheel.

Also offered are classes in advanced arts and crafts which use advanced techniques in the visual art areas of drawing and painting, lettering and design, and craft media (leather, weaving, crafts, sculptor). Further development of fine motor skills, problem-solving and critical thinking, visual literacy, and visual perception are stressed.

Our middle schools are extremely well-represented in art shows throughout the county. They include Color It Orange, Imagination Celebration, Laguna Festival of the Arts, and Irvine Fine Arts Center.

The IUSD middle school art staff is extremely well-thought-of throughout the county and is dedicated to providing the best possible art experience for your student.
