A handicapped student will be educated to the maximum extent possible with pupils who are not handicapped.

A handicapped student should be served in his home school. If serving the handicapped student in his home school is not sufficient, then a special day class placement is recommended.

The handicapped pupils shall be served in a private school only when there is appropriate program provided by the Irvine Unified District or other public school agency.

A handicapped child being served in a private school should remain as near as possible to his/her local geographical area.

Handicapped students should attend a State certified private school which is appropriate to the individual needs as represented by the Individualized Education Program.
