Construction Technician, Construction Services

With a style that is both personable and professional, Esther helps coordinate an array of complex construction projects for the district. Students may not interact with her each day, but she directly impacts their lives by working with new and modernized sites to ensure that they open on time and run efficiently. Coworkers say Esther is the ultimate teammate, creating a positive work environment while going above and beyond to help others.

Vidya Mukund
Instructional Assistant, Meadow Park Elementary School

As an instructional assistant serving students with special needs, Vidya takes the time to understand each child’s learning goals while closely tracking their progress. Affectionately known as “Mrs. M,” she exhibits passion, patience and humor while consistently contributing innovative ideas that support student learning. Vidya is adept at engaging students with educational activities that keep them interested and focused. Moreover, she’s a tremendous communicator who makes sure parents and teachers are informed.

Julio Manzo
Head Custodian, Stone Creek Elementary School

Julio is not only a dependable and diligent worker who keeps his campus immaculate, he’s distinguished himself by being resourceful, friendly and accessible to Stone Creek’s students. Julio has on several occasions recovered a dental retainer or a lost lunch bag that was accidentally tossed into the trash, and he was instrumental in supporting the staff during the school’s recent modernization. Above all, he’s the consummate problem-solver who always puts kids first.

Cecie Bertone
Admin Assistant to the Principal, Eastshore Elementary School

Characterized by many as the heart and soul of Eastshore, Cecie manages her school’s finances, substitute employees, work orders, parent inquiries, school purchases, telephone calls, teacher requests and student issues, all while exhibiting grace and humor. Efficient, organized and dedicated to her work, Cecie knows just about every family and every student by name. Moreover, she has the uncanny ability to tackle several issues at once while putting others at ease.

Elcie Peterson
Media Specialist, Northwood Elementary School

Formerly a parent volunteer and an instructional assistant, Elcie has redefined the role of media specialist at Northwood by using new technologies to guide learning and to help teachers quickly access valuable student data. She’s also become her school’s unofficial record-keeper, documenting campus events, designing bulletin boards and contributing to the school’s website. Coworkers say she builds morale, especially during tough times, and makes Northwood a fun place to work.
