Community Advisory Committee Advanced Learning and Differentiation

Community Advisory Committee of Advanced Learning and Differentiation (formerly CAC-GATE) serves as an important vehicle for parent and community involvement in the educational program of gifted and advanced learners. The committee is comprised of parent representatives from each school within our district. Three committee meetings are held annually to promote open communication between district administrators, school staff, and parents. Meetings also provide parents with information and opportunities related to gifted education. If you are interested in volunteering as a parent representative, please speak with your school's Advanced Learning Site teacher representative. Meetings are open to all IUSD community members.

2024-2025 Parent Representative Meetings

Advanced Learning Site Parent Representative meetings are open to all IUSD parents. Meetings are held to promote open communication between district administrators, school staff, and parents.These meetings are intended for adult attendance only and will be held in a virtual setting this year.

Additionally, we host a parent book club open to all interested community members. The book club discussions will be held during the first part of the quarterly meetings. The second part of the meeting will be reserved for general business and discussion. 

Parent Meetings & Book Club are held on Zoom. We welcome all parents to join our meetings and book club. The 2023-2024 book was Never Enough: When Achievement Culture Becomes Toxic, by Jennifer Wallace
The 2024-2025 book will be announced in fall.

IUSD offers two programs to serve advanced learners in 4th through 6th grades, GATE and APAAS. Please view the online 2023 Advanced Learning Parent Presentation  at your convenience. Thank you for your interest in our programs.
