Homework Survey

As a follow up the work that the Curriculum Council did two years ago that resulted in a new Board Policy on  homework, the office of the Assistant Superintendent of Education Services created a survey for teachers, students, and parents to determine the impact of the school homework plans and to assess current perceptions related to homework in IUSD.   Below are links to the homework surveys.  Each survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete.

All surveys must be completed by Friday, May 10th.

Early Childhood Learning Center Opens Fee-Based Preschool Program

Beginning on the IUSD year-round calendar, the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) is starting a fee-based preschool program. Registration opened Monday, April 15th for ECLC, as well as its state-funded preschool for children of income-eligible families. The programs are open to children ages 3 to 5. The programs are administered by the team of professional educators at the district’s Early Childhood Learning Center.

Established in 2002, the Early Childhood Learning Center has worked collaboratively with local families to build a world-class learning community to support each child’s social, emotional and pre-academic needs.

The ECLC campus is located at 1 Smoketree in Irvine. To learn more, visit the center’s website, or call 949-936-5890.

First In Math (http://www.firstinmath.com)

Springbrook School is using a new online math program called First In Math. The program offers skill practice activities for 3rd-8th grade students. Each student received their username/password at school. The levels for practice are driven by the student. They choose what they want to do, but they must pass a level before they try a harder game.  This program has been proven to help increase test scores nationwide.

Students can use the program online at home or at school. CLICK HERE to read the flyer for more information.

Wednesdays are Walk to School Days. See Suggested Route to Springbrook Elementary School for children who walk or ride bicycles to school.
